Since 2022, LEGO has added 22 MWp of solar energy capacity, with some of the most notable developments taking place in Czechia and Denmark. In Kladno, Czechia, LEGO increased its renewable energy capacity by 150% in one fell swoop, focusing on onsite solar power generation.
Under its new plans, LEGO Group said that infrastructure to produce approximately 38 MWp of solar energy – a capacity increase of 72% – are due to be built across its production sites.
According to LEGO, the company's solar expansion forms a key initiative towards the company's climate goals, which include achieving net zero greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2050, and an interim target to reduce emissions by 37% by 2032. In a statement announcing the new plans, LEGO Group said:
